This is related to this bug:
The bug in question refers to line wraps being inserted in the subject
line. There is a fix in the CVS for this I think.
I'm sending mail through a mail2news gateway and seeing both the above
bug and SquirrelMail breaking the references header which bursts the
threads on the NNTP side of things.
References header sent by SquirrelMail is:
As you can see, it has broken one of the references in the middle. It
has also translated the tabs at the start of the continued lines into
spaces. I'm not sure if the spaces/tabs makes a difference, but the
break in the reference certainly does.
I also see the spaces instead of tabs in the received line created by
SquirrelMail. All other MTAs seem to use tabs as white space at the
start of continuation lines.
