Hi All, I'm in the process of deploying squirrelmail as the webmail solution for our company. Everyone I talk to is very happy about the way things work with SM ! During the eval, I was using version 1.0.6 of SM (stable at the time). Now I'm installing on the "real" server hardware and I choose to go with the latest stable version (1.2.2). I noticed a couple of nice feature enhancements but also a performance drop in SM. I guess that's a tradeoff but I believe there is a problem here. I have a couple of "benchmark" e-mails which basically have pretty large html tables in them. I choose to view these attachments though SM by clicking on the attachment and the bottom of the message view. The html attachment takes 28 seconds to appear in my browser using SM 1.2.2 compared to 4 seconds using SM 1.1.3 [cvs]. This seems odd, doesn't it ? I have checked out 1.1.3 from CVS and I'm running without any plugins installed on either 1.2.2 or 1.1.3, so plugins shouldn't matter in this case. I also have a large e-mail (4.1MB) of uuencoded data which takes 118 seconds to display on both 1.1.3 and 1.2.2. No performance difference in this case. Both versions of SM is running on the same server (Linux 2.2.18 on Compaq DS10 Alphaserver, 466MHz EV6 with 512MB memory) Any ideas ? Thanks Daniel Nilsson |
