When writing an answer with SquirrelMail 1.4.12 (current SVN version) the In-Reply-To and References headers are not set. This must be a new issue, I'm sure it worked until a few days/weeks ago.

    I'm checking into this. I think this may have been caused by some of the session cleanup in the compose code. I'll post an update once I've figure more out.

    Seeing this too. This is essential to fix since it breaks your messages to mailinglists etc (the archives get screwed up).

    The relevant data was saved in the composeMessage object that is not passed anymore. There are two solutions:
    1) pass the composeMessage object;
    2) pass these two headers (i-r-t and references) in some other way.

    Great fix, Paul, it works fine with me. It restores the much needed threading of the messages I send :) Are you also going to apply it to stable?

    With the applied patch both the References and the In-Reply-To header will be generated.

    Thanks a lot for the bug fix!

    Best regards,

    André
