On Opera 7, if you activate the NewMail plugin, when it
triggers, it inserts blank space on top of 'FOLDERS'. This
comes from plugins/newmail/setup.php from the tag:
echo "<EMBED SRC=\"$newmail_media\" HIDDEN=TRUE
AUTOSTART=TRUE>\n";
There should also be an HEIGHT=0 property and the tag
should be also closed </EMBED>.

    The version of this plugin that comes with squirrelmail
    1.4.3 has a problem with that same line - the quotation mark
    is escaped when it should not be, leading to an extra "\" in
    the embed tag, so it reads EMBED SRC=\

    The sound then fails to play in gecko-based browsers
    (Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Camino, etc).

    I'd have made the assumption that the "hidden=true" part
    would have taken care of the visibility. I'll see what
    affect it has on other browsers if height=0 as well. As for
    the extra \ reported by jdelaphant, that has been fixed in CVS.

    looks like opera implemented embed according to apple specs.
    apple documentation says that width and height attributes
    are required. issue is fixed in 1.5.1cvs and 1.4.4cvs.
