Hi,

squirrelmail : today's 1.4CVS
php : 4.2.1
apache : 1.3.27
browser : mozilla 1.2.1

When I open an email with an attachment, squirrelmail
displays the rigth type of file, eg:
Attachments:
motardes.pps 1.2 M [ application/pps ] download

But if I click on the document or 'download', it is
coming up as [application/octect-stream]! On linux or
windows, it's the same thing.

Thanks.

To force a "download" of the file, we have to force the mime
type to be application/octet-stream. If we passed
application/pps, the file would be viewed in the browser
instead of downloaded if you had the right software installed.

i am having the same problem. it makes it darn near
impossible for the average user to open an attachment. they
have to save it, then open the correct app and then open the
    document (doc,xls, or whatever).

with ie you dont have this problem because it will ignore the
incorrect mime type and open the right program anyway.

with anything else you cant set the right app up permanently
becuase every attachment comes up with the same mime
    type.

could we please have an option to turn this behavior off, it has
been wreaking havoc for me since we upgraded.

    Fixed in 1.5.1 CVS.

Please download copy of mime.php from here, and drop it into
your current install (make a backup) and let me know if it
    helps.

    Reply to jangliss :

If I click on 'download', mime type sould be
application/octet-stream. But if I click on the document,
the mime type should be something like application/pps for a
powerpoint. I think that it should be like clicking on
    'view' (whenever it is showed).

The fix from 1.5.1cvs seems to work for me on 1.4.1cvs.
    Thanks.

    LS,
Well it works better the old one.
But after I opened one attachments I get the same
    unreadable stuff.
    And an error message:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object
    in ../class/mime/Message.class.php on line 679
