Hello, I'm currently developing a custom SQuirreL application for a client. Unfortunately I canno't give it to the community because it deals with security (password encryption...) As I updated the core part of SQuirreL, I need to disable Software Update Manager so as potential users cannot choose to update their application (which has the effect to overwrite my custom version!). So is there a simple and non intrusive way to remove it? or to restrict it to plugins and translations only? Regards, Johan |

Johan, The update manager ensures that plugins, translations and core artifacts stay in sync. We occasionally change APIs in a way which is not backward-compatible, so using the update manager to get updates for plugins and translations and not for core artifacts is problematic. But it is trivial to modify SQuirreL to disable the update manager. Simply comment out or remove line 411 in net.sourceforge.squirrel_sql.client.gui.mainframe.MainFramMenuBar.java : addToMenu(rsrc, UpdateAction.class, menu); With this line commented out or removed, the user has no way to access the update manager feature as it will no longer be included in the Help menu.
