I only want to mention an alternative that wouldn't require additional configuration: We could scan the jars in the Plugins directory only but not in its subdirectories. That would relieve us from the biggest part of scanning. For example look at the Syntax Plugin: The Plugin jar itself is very small compared to the jars in its lib directory. Johan, you are one of the first SQuirreL developers and the originator of the Scripts plugin, aren't you? I can't remember hearing from you since I started working on SQuirreL 5 years ago. Good to hear from you again.
