I like the auto column width resizing functionality in the query results view, however with some text columns that contain very long contents, it would be nice to have a maximum column width to keep scrolling among columns manageable.

I find the auto-resizing of small columns and medium columns great, but would like to prevent the long long fields from requiring lots of scrolling. In those cases I can double-click to view the whole content if needed.

This issue has me turning off the auto column resizing feature right now..

The ability to set the max width that a column would be re-sized to would be great!

    Excellent idea.

I suggest the "New Session Properties" under the "SQL" tab as the place where to keep the option, e.g. "Limit 'Always adjust all column widths' (0=none)" with 0 as default.

The right-click context menu on result tables is already quite large, so I suggest not adding this there.

The open question is what about the "Adjust all column widths"? Should it also be limited or should the "manual" invocation always go to the maximum width?
The most generic solution would be having an option for each, but that sounds a bit over the top to me.
