When creating a table with a CHAR(24) column in it, the size it reports is CHAR(7). Works fine with CHAR(25), etc...

SQL Server database (not sure if this issue appears on other databases).

    This causes problems with the graph generator that I love so much :(

  • I have reproduced this issue on SQLServer 2005 (9.00.3077) with the Microsoft driver (com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver / version 1.2.2828.100.), and the following table def:

    CREATE TABLE testchar24
    (
    mychar char(24)
    );

    Bad news - it's the driver feeding us bad data from DatabaseMetaData.getColumns, so we can't fix it.
    Good news - there is an updated version of this driver which fixes the problem here:

    Closing this ticket since getting the latest version of the Microsoft JDBC driver provides a fix for this bug.
