No

This has been an intermittent problem for some time but has recently become more of an issue. With no apparent pattern, Squirrel is occasionally losing driver and alias configurations. After a lot of research, I've found that the SQLAliases23.xml file and SQLDrivers.xml file in my user profile are being renamed during shutdown to end in a tilde (~) and then being replaced with the default version of the file at the next startup. This is happening to multiple users at my location and is becoming quite a problem.

Affected versions are 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 under JRE 7 and JRE 6.

    UPDATE:

We've come to the conclusion that this is somehow related to our antivirus software, though we don't know how. Disabling it (which is obviously not a good solution) fixes the problem.

I'll update more when we gather more information, but I think it's safe to say that this is not a bug in Squirrel.

Our AV product is CA Total Defence.

If AV is a suspected culprit, perhaps you could work-around it by doing either of the following:

    1) Configure AV not to scan ~/.squirrel-sql/*
    2) Relocate ~/.squirrel-sql to a location that AV doesn't scan and configure SQuirreL's startup script to use the alternate location.

Okay. I can confirm that it is definitely a problem with our AV and not with Squirrel. It appears that the AV was locking the temp config files (e.g. SQLDrivers.xml~) that Squirrel writes in order to scan them. When Squirrel then tried to rename them back to the correct name (SQLDrivers.xml -- no tilde), the lock causes it to fail.

This ticket can be closed. I sould have closed it myself, but don't know which resolution should be chosen.

Sorry to raise a false positive... maybe this will help someone else though.

(p.s. - I am NOT impressed with CA Total Defense)
