But I think I've decided that unfortunately I can't try any options that are both undocumented and you (Oleg) don't use.  Seems like I'm just asking for bugs to bite me that would be very time consuming to track down.

  Perhaps by using the very Style class? I never tried that. Read
sqlobject/styles.py.
