I have just set up a Samsung SCX 4300 multifunctional on debian unstable and it is working. I have chosen the SCX 4200 printer as the printer type and it prints the test page just fine.
To get the scanning functionality available I had to add the USB id to udev and the sane configuraton, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=545290 for details on how to do that.
I would like to create a proper scx4300 PPD file but I don't really know how to do that. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to do that?
I can confirm this, my SCX-4300 is working, too. Almost the same setup: Debian squeeze (testing), SpliX 2.0.0, SCX-4200 selected (scx4200.ppd).
The grey gradients on the CUPS printer test page don’t look very smooth, but I can’t determine whether this is a limitation of the printer or the driver. Is there a way to find out? Anything else I could help with to make SCX-4300 support “official”?
scx-4300 works here too. I used this driver: Samsung SCX-4500, SpliX V. 2.0.0 (grayscale, 2-sided printing)
