Hi Paul, I've been working with integrating Open Modelia to external applications. In general it would be cool to hook Modelia up to Speed Dreams and for your case in particular I can see this combination useful, as there are a lot functionalities and models available in the modelica standard library that will allow for quickly implementing different control strategies. Hello, I want to do research on Automobile Smart Cruise Control design. A Smart Cruise Control at its most basic level is a system that integrates forward looking radar into a traditional Cruise Control. The forward looking radar is used to detect cars in front and then speed is regulated to follow the car at a preset distance (1 car length, 2 car lengths, etc.). I am interested in designing the algorithms and controlling PIDs to regulate the car's speed and to integrate the forward looking radar range into this PID design. I was wondering if I could use Speed Dreams as a research testbed to generate a simulation environment that my Cruise Control PID could operate within. I would need to be able to received speed information for the car I am controlling as well distance information for surrounding cars. I would also need to be able to control the throttle and brakes for the car I am controlling. Is this possible with Speed Dreams? Paul Tischler |

Hi, I have a problem with using the simulator. If I use the default control settings in which left/right steering is done using the mouse motion, then the simulator works properly. But if I change it to use the keyboard, then the game hangs up as soon as the race starts and closes down. What can be done to remove this problem? |

Hi everyone Just trying out SD for the first time; loving what I've seen so far. I tried to register in the community forums, but I must be doing something wrong. In fact, I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the confirmation "question"... Anyway: the reason I'm posting is that I cannot get my Thrustmaste wireless gamepad to show in SD controls. I press the LEFT STEER option, for example, but moving an axis on the gamepad does not have any effect in the menu. The gamepad does work; in other games I've used JOY2KEY, and this works, but has no analog possibilities, so everything is obviously worse. Any hints appreciated. Thanks Rui |

Hi & Welcome, From what you have posted, it looks like PLIB was not built with -fPIC. Its saying to turn on the -fPIC option, but I dont know how to. What should I do? |

Hello to all, For a project I am working on I must model a real Quad bike (four wheels) in Speed Dreams or Torcs. I just got assigned this and though I've been researching frantically I still got some doubts. In short, these are: 1) Is Speed Dreams the way to go given the amount of time it has passed since the creation of Torcs? 2) I know there's a Torcs Car Editor that makes the parameters easier to input, but I'm wondering if it's compatible with Speed Dreams? 2) Is it possible to model a Quad bike in one of these softwares by tweeking the parameters of the vehicles (or submitting a new model)? 3) So far, I have only found Torcs documentation that briefly explain some parameters of the vehicle but the XML file for any of the models that already come incorporated show a lot more. Is there any such document that touches this subject? Thanks in advance, -- Frank Pinto |

Hi all, The Speed Dreams Team is happy to announce that release 2.2.1 is now available for download at SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/speed-dreams/files/2.2.1 This is a maintenance release that primarily fixes a sticking throttle issue when driving with the keyboard. Please give it a try. Cheers |

I'm new to the game but I suppose you wanna compile agains SDL1 I go to the sources directory (there is a README.txt and INSTALL.txt, right?) inside this directory create a "build" or "mybuild" (or anything) directory and inside this new directory I run: >>> cmake -D CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:STRING=/home/user/bin/speeddreams/ -D OPTION_OSGGRAPH:BOOL=OFF -D OPTION_SDL2:BOOL=OFF .. (dont miss that the last argument is "..") If this is going fine several configurations being taken will appear and the important one should look like this: ... -- Found SDL: /usr/lib64/libSDLmain.a;/usr/lib64/libSDL.so;-lpthread (found version "1.2.15") ... followed by a >>> make ... >>> make install The important bit is the -D OPTION_SDL2:BOOL=OFF configuration option 2016-04-01 12:38 GMT-03:00 Martin Herrman <mar...@gm...>: > I am running Ubuntu 16.04 (beta) and compiled with SDL 2.0.4. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 (beta) and compiled with SDL 2.0.4. The game starts, but I can use my logitech f710 (an xbox 360 type) controller. I tried both xpad kernel driver and xboxdrv userspace driver. The latter worked fine for me on other systems. Now I used below to compile with SDL1 (I first installed the SDL1 libs), but it still compiles to SDL 2.0.4. Any idea how to get the controller working? 2016-03-28 11:54 GMT+02:00 fran <bra...@gm...>: > mine is > 00:00:00.000 Default Info Compiled against SDL version 2.0.3 > 00:00:00.000 Default Info Linking against SDL version 2.0.3. > > You were right, With SDL2:OFF throttle works ok > > 2016-03-27 23:10 GMT-03:00 Joe <min...@ea...>: > >> Hello all, >> I think that this is a problem with SDL2. >> If you run Speed-Dreams from a terminal, near the top you should see: >> 00:00:00.000 Default Info Compiled against SDL version 2.0.4 >> 00:00:00.000 Default Info Linking against SDL version 2.0.4. >> >> If you could report what version of SDL you have, that might help. >> >> Thanks. >> >> You can also build with SDL1.2 which should work. >> Add -D OPTION_SDL2:BOOL=OFF >> > |

Hello all, I think that this is a problem with SDL2. If you run Speed-Dreams from a terminal, near the top you should see: 00:00:00.000 Default Info Compiled against SDL version 2.0.4 00:00:00.000 Default Info Linking against SDL version 2.0.4. If you could report what version of SDL you have, that might help. Thanks. You can also build with SDL1.2 which should work. Add -D OPTION_SDL2:BOOL=OFF On 3/27/2016 7:05 PM, fran wrote: > same problem here (linux too, compiled from source) > Compiled with -D OPTION_OSGGRAPH:BOOL=OFF and obviously without > freesolid. same problem here (linux too, compiled from source) Compiled with -D OPTION_OSGGRAPH:BOOL=OFF and obviously without freesolid. Great game work, but in the latest release (2.2.0.1) many times the car remains accellerate (full throttle) even if i leave the finger from the throttle button. In this condition the race is unplayable. Second issue, i've installed all the packages, including "More cars and tracks": the are now many tracks, but still the same base cars (on Linux only, the windows version is complete). |

Hi guys, I'm a new speeddreams user and I run linux OS. I've tried compiling from source and failed instantly compiling FreeSolid. I've downloaded FreeSOLID-2.1.2.zip This is a slackware system and I'know several libraries could be broken because I just dont track anything, I just install and even force links to emulate previous library versions. But, anyways I reinstalled glibc and gcc and bintutils packages from a sane state and at this point the build error wasn't what I've expected. Did a sh bootstrap.sh ./configure and make And there raises this compile error ... g++ -shared /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crti.o /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtbeginS.o .libs/Transform.o .libs/Convex.o .libs/Box.o .libs/Cone.o .libs/Cylinder.o .libs/Sphere.o .libs/Simplex.o .libs/Polygon.o .libs/Polyhedron.o .libs/Complex.o .libs/BBoxTree.o .libs/Object.o .libs/Response.o .libs/RespTable.o .libs/C-api.o .libs/BP_C-api.o .libs/BP_Endpoint.o .libs/BP_Proxy.o .libs/BP_Scene.o .libs/GEN_random.o .libs/MT_Matrix3x3.o .libs/MT_Point2.o .libs/MT_Point3.o .libs/MT_Quaternion.o .libs/MT_Transform.o .libs/MT_Vector2.o .libs/MT_Vector3.o .libs/MT_Vector4.o -L/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0 -L/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64 -L/lib/../lib64 -L/usr/lib/../lib64 -L/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../x86_64-slackware-linux/lib -L/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../.. /usr/lib64/../lib64/libstdc++.so -lm -lc -lgcc_s /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtendS.o /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crtn.o -o .libs/libFreeSOLID-2.1.1.so.0.2.1 /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crti.o: In function `_init': /glibc-tmp-4da84b6e011d91753dd26471d5e4a31b/glibc-2.23/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/crti.S:64: multiple definition of `_init' /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crti.o:/glibc-tmp-4da84b6e011d91753dd26471d5e4a31b/glibc-2.23/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/crti.S:64: first defined here /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crti.o: In function `_fini': /glibc-tmp-4da84b6e011d91753dd26471d5e4a31b/glibc-2.23/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/crti.S:64: multiple definition of `_fini' /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../lib64/crti.o:/glibc-tmp-4da84b6e011d91753dd26471d5e4a31b/glibc-2.23/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/crti.S:64: first defined here /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtbeginS.o:(.data.rel.local+0x0): multiple definition of `__dso_handle' /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtbeginS.o:(.data.rel.local+0x0): first defined here /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtendS.o:(.dtors+0x0): multiple definition of `__DTOR_END__' /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtendS.o:(.dtors+0x0): first defined here /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtendS.o:(.tm_clone_table+0x0): multiple definition of `__TMC_END__' /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/crtendS.o:(.tm_clone_table+0x0): first defined here collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [libFreeSOLID.la] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/six/slackware/home/suse/bin/FreeSOLID-2.1.2/libsolid' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 ... Hi Warren, all. You have made some nice suggestion == MANUAL/WIKI == There is already a wiki located at https://sourceforge.net/p/speed-dreams/wiki/Home/ and it is already liked in the SD home page, maybe it has not the visibility it deserve. I think write access is currently only available to the dev team members. The wiki has already a good amount of information's about SD, but I'm with you when you say: - information is not centralized enough (wiki, post on the forums, mailing list, chats, files installed etc), and this cause of some documentation to not to be updated as it should. - not everything is as well documented as it should be. That is probably due to: - lack of manpower, the team is not big enough to have a dedicated person who write documentation - other priorities: developers, from my experience, likes more to write code instead of documentation (myself included) I think your help is well appreciated and wanted but please don't do work for the sake of doing it, and try not to create another soon-to-be-unmantained manual but update what is already in place in accordance with the rest of the dev team. == PUBBLICITY/FOLLOWERS == Some work was done in this direction we already have account setup in all the social (twitter, facebook, google+, youtube etc) Maybe they are not as active as they should and we can try to have them more active with more posting about development updates. I've always tough that the best publicity for a game is playing it, when we will have online multiplayer mode available I think that will help a lot. Thanks for all the help you will give!
