I've set up a Debian-Sarge server; and upon looking for a way to use Snort alerts to drive attack-blocking procesures, I was excited to discover Snort_inline.

In setting up the server, being a migrant from Micro$oft, I've basically used apt-get to install everything.

And (HERE'S THE PROBLEM): because there is no Debian package for Snort_inline, I'm on shakier ground, being less familiar with walking through make/configure/install. (When I attempted to configure, I kept running into missing libpcap, then libpcre, etc. ... each constituting another hurdle for the newbie.)

Is there (a) an unofficial Debian-Sarge Snort-inline package hiding somewhere? (b) anyone who might be able to offer one? or (c) a set of step-by-step directions for installing Snort_inline appropriate for those used to letting the package manager set up everything except final configuration.

Thanks in advance for the help.
