hi,

if we access a file via smb:// kio, even when smplayer is compiled with KDE_SUPPORT=1; the whole file is dumped into tmp folder then it is being played.

It would be great if smplayer plays smb://file.avi without copying it to the temp folder, like kplayer. please see kplayer's settings. this is one of the killer features of kplayer, which i feel smplayer should have.

if you don't have a network, even then you can create a share in your pc and access it with smb://localhost for testing purpose.

thanks a million for smplayer. it is really a nice application without which my computer is useless :)

Its kde problem not smplayer. Try use any other player to read something from smb:/ you will get this same result.

If you want better support for samba fs then stop using smb:/ and try fusesmb or smbnetfs.
