I noticed these files are never updated, so when you upgrade
Automake, say, from 1.7.9 to 1.8, you're left with the old
BTW, starting with 1.8 mkinstalldirs is gone (here it used
'mkdir -m 0755 -p').
Anyway, I reinstalled 1.7.9 since 1.8 breaks a lot of things
(both versions can coexist) with 'error: m4_defn: undefined
macro: _m4_divert_diversion'. I had to edit libtool.m4.
glib-2.0.m4 has the same problem, so I'll only use 1.8 for what
works OOTB, like smartmontools. At least bootstrapping, running
configure and make with builddir != srcdir, and make install
with DESTDIR do.
