Hi, I've just installed the latest tarball (5.38) on 2.6.22.14-72.fc6, and have run into a strange problem. I'm running on a Dell Poweredge with a SAS 5iR RAID controller. The two drives in the RAID mirror are available at /dev/sg0 and /dev/sg1, and I'm trying to monitor their health. If I run smartctl, then I can check both of them. However, when I run smartd I'm told that one of them is "not capable of SMART self-check". The drive which reports this is whichever is the first listed in the smartd.conf. Does anyone have any hints as to how I can monitor both drives? Thanks, rts [root@staging smartmontools-5.38]# cat /usr/local/etc/smartd.conf /dev/sg0 -H -d sat /dev/sg1 -H -d sat [root@staging smartmontools-5.38]# smartd --debug --interval=20 --no-fork --quit=onecheck smartd version 5.38 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ Opened configuration file /usr/local/etc/smartd.conf Configuration file /usr/local/etc/smartd.conf parsed.
