Hi, I work at WD and would like to add some Drive data so we can be added to your database. Currently we cannot get smartctl to run on our new drives. Should we wait until you can get this to work or do we submit this data and you will fix your SAS to SATA translations? What is a more direct way to contact someone in this organization. Thank you, Christian Mueller 1 Morgan Lab M230 Irvine, CA 92618 (949) 672-6276 |

Smartmontools has database entries to apply adjustments to the output of smartctl (e.g. Attribute 9 [Power_On_Hours] is sometimes given in minutes for some disk brands) or to apply counter measures against firmware issues. If you get Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] on your smartctl output, this does not mean anything, just the correct drive name is not displayed. At the moment, no WD drive needs specific quirks which would alter the smartctl output. If I understand you correctly, you seem to have troubles to run smartctl on some SAS interface. Which version of smartctl have you tried? Have you also tried the latest development code from cvs? What is the output?
