You need to say: Definition of terms used: Offline: ... Online: ... User otherwise thinks: Ok, we know this has nothing to do with our modem, so it probably means "unmounted" vs. "mounted". However: Enables or disables SMART automatic offline test, which scans the drive every four hours for disk defects. This command can be given during normal system operation. Hmmm, so "offline" is run when the disks _are_ mounted. So perhaps it is the other way around, where online means "being directly connected to the disk with no mounts in the way". Or maybe it all has nothing to do with the UNIX mount(8) command at all. As you can see, the beginning user is out of the loop. You have to add an extra paragraph to sort this out, otherwise we longtime users of different meanings of those words won't grab the intended meaning, even if "-o is very clear already." |
