Hi, I have a WDC RE4 drive, WDC WD2003FYYS-02W0B0, attached to a 3ware RAID card, the drive was failed by the RAID card with ECC error. The smartctl shows 4 pending and 4 offline uncorrectable sectors, with no reallocated sectors, smart test stopped with read error. I then exported the drive as a "SINGLE" drive in Linux and I attempted to "repair" the bad sectors to no avail. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdf bs=512 count=50 seek=591035380 dd: writing `/dev/sdf': Input/output error 5+0 records in 4+0 records out 2048 bytes (2.0 kB) copied, 1.81229 seconds, 1.1 kB/s I did it a few times, but the disk won't reallocated bad sectors at all, is it time to ask for RMA? Thank you. -- Zhi-Wei Lu Bioinformatics Core Genome Center University of California, Davis (530) 752-2698 |
