Hello all. I seem to have a bad sector on my disk. I see this in /var/log/messages: smartd[1928]: Device: /dev/hda, 1 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors I'm trying to follow the BadBlockHowTo.txt instructions to deal with it. However, the first step won't work for me - my disk always passes the self-tests with flying colors! I've tried "short" and "extended" self tests and all I get is "Completed without error". Any idea what's going on here? Is there some other way I can get the LBA of the failing sector? I'm running Fedora Core 5, 2.6.18 kernel, smartctl v5.36. Let me know if you need more information from me - I didn't want to spam the list with my complete smartctl output if that's not going to be helpful. Thanks! -sam PS: Sorry if this is already answered - SF's mailing-list search engine timed out when I tried looking first... |
