I am working on diagnostic tests for hard disks based on the SMART system. I would like to test my diagnostics on failing/failed disks and
I haven't been able to get my hands on such hardware.
Would it be possible to simulate SMART disk errors for testing purposes?
(Specifically I need something that will fail the selftest kicked off by smartd, and call my reporting script (using the -m <nomailer> -M exec <Script> directive in smartd.conf)
