Hello Bruce ,

I observed 2 issues which I would like to clarify. I couldn't find an answer on the FAQ or the mailing list archive yet.

1) The output of smartctl -a /dev/hda and smartd (i modified the smartd.conf file /dev/hda -a) are not the same.
smartctl gives a detailed output whereas smartd does not. It seems to monitor only 2 parameters

 Sep 10 14:26:45 localhost smartd[32439]: Device: /dev/hda, SMART Usage Attribute: 190    Airflow_Temperature_Cel changed from 65 to 64
Sep 10 14:26:45 localhost smartd[32439]: Device: /dev/hda, SMART Usage Attribute: 194 Temperature_Celsius changed from 35 to 36
Sep 10 14:26:54 localhost smartd[32439]: Device: /dev/hda, SMART Usage Attribute: 190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel changed from 64 to 65
Sep 10 14:26:54 localhost smartd[32439]: Device: /dev/hda, SMART Usage Attribute: 194 Temperature_Celsius changed from 36 to 35

I would like to have smartd log the same output as smartctl. Please let me know how this can be achieved.

2) I did the changes as described in the manual for smartd to periodically run the tests using the -i option,
however it doesn't seem to run peiodically (had set a value of 60). How do I make it run periodically ?

I am using smartmontools-5.38.

Appreciate your response to my queries.

Regards & Thanks,
Arut
