Hi There is a built-in footer "message of the day" (motd) that has a task = (new_motd) for picking a new one. I added some code to that task to = randomly pick from a list of quotes. When I run the task manually I can = see a new quote in the motd template (by looking right at the db), but = the quote displayed on the site doesn't change until I restart apache. = Is this a template caching issue? What is the "right" way to handle = this? Thanks Mark |

I am new to Slash and this list so hello everyone! I am running FC 3 with perl 5.8.5, apache 2.0.53. I am attempted to install slash 2.3.0.148 and I got the following error: Bundle::DBD::mysql Apache::Cookie Apache::Request and the following items had problems during recursive bundle calls: DBD::mysql Mysql According to the archives of this list, slash will not work with my version of apache. Is this still a fact? TIA, GM |

You've obviously already looked at the new_motd task src a little bit, and mod'd it. What exactly is the task doing? Is it populating a template? A block? A var? Then find out what's cached (hint: the faq may explain some of it: http://slash.lottadot.com//faqster.pl?op=view&fid=1 ) Compare what's cached, to what the task is doing, and there's your answer. Honestly, it was the most trouble-less slash-install that I think I've ever had. But as always ymmv. Shane -- My slashcode stuff: http://slash.lottadot.com/ |

I did not install perl from scratch. Is that the problem?
