No

In analyzing the new HTML code I noticed there were a
few <font> tags around in the sidebar for the following
blocks:

Freshmeat
Linux Tody

I also found them in the main news posts.

While I can't think of anything absurdly wrong with
that design decision, it should be noted that you can
gain extra functionality by using a class or id in the
places where font tags are used. You gain:

User customibiltiy: Through the Web Dev plugin for
Firefox, User defined Stylesheets, etc.

Easy Cross site changes: Change once, effect everything.

Multi-device support: add reference in the already
existing handheld and print CSS pages and carry over
the support to these devices.

Thank you for an excellent site! Happy Slashdot
visitor since 1996.

Pudge, you're already working on this, so here you go :)

Thanks for the kind words, Chris.

I don't think you found any font tags in any Slashdot news posts, since the code
prohibits them. As to the Slashboxes, those are either fixed, or will be soon (that
is, fixed in code, will be fixed for next code refresh).

Perhaps I was viewing pre-rendered stories that were posted
before the CSS switch. I checked the source code on the
front page as of 9/23/05 11:43 Central time, the only
remaining font tag that I found was in the Linux today
    sideblock.

Thank you for your quick response.
