Slashcode comes with a predefined mysql advertisement data base, but site administrators of a slash site have know way of utilizing this feature. Could you release a CGI or built-in code with the next version of Slash so that administrators can run their own advertisements? It's shown on SlashDot, but for some reason isn't included with Slashcode, why? Just wonderin' about that and hoping that you'll release atleast a base(admins could customize the cgi/code in Slash.pm to their liking) of how to use the advertisement part of Slashcode.

Discussion

  • Take a look at mod_random. It can be used in place of OSDN's banner add system for this.

This has been discussed on slashcode.com and on the mailing list; it may come in the future, but we have more important things to do, and there are solutions out there that people are using. If you can't find anything, ask on the mailing list what others are using. Thanks.
