This problem is apparent in both IE6 (nt5/XP) and
Mozilla 0.97 (xp).

Simple summary:
When I am logged in and viewing the main page of
slashdot (in light mode, with threshold set to 5) I
click (for example) on the "22" from "22 of 896
comments" under a story.
If this was working properly, I should see the
story, followed by the 22 score-5 comments. Instead,
I see the story with 14 comments. Same thing happens
in IE and Mozilla.
If I erase my cookie and view the story at threshold
5 / nested without being logged in, it works fine.

This is part of a bigger problem that we're aware of.

Just wanted to follow-up check, which bug should I watch
to track resolution of the mentioned 'larger problem'?
(*has* it been tracked down yet?)

Yo ... sorry to pester, but it's been a year and a half, and this
problem still occurs every day when I read slashdot ... if the
problem is [as rob mentioned] part of a known issue that's
being worked on, which issue / bug # is it?

Just wanted to add a quick comment to this issue:

It happens to me as well (userid "roc_machine"). It doesn't
matter what threshold I'm browsing at. It always displays an
incorrect number on the main page. I've used Phoenix, IE, and
Moz. All produce the same results. I created a new user
account ("baccusg"), and the problem was non-existent.

So I'll ask the same question: Will this be resolved soon? You
don't realize how much you rely on the threshold count until
you have it reporting wrong all the time.

Just created a new login "Hobart2", and duplicated my
account settings. Problem exists identically on the new
    account.

With no login, 14 score-5'ed comments are reported, and 14
displayed. When logged in as either account, only 10
score-5'ed are reported, the dropdown lists "10" for the
quantity of all scores on comments, and only 8 are displayed.
