To batch convert pdf <-> pdfd (i.e., pdf bundle) and "pdf with Skim notes" <-> "pdf with embedded notes" files, there is now a "skimalot" script (http://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D472554_2740135_64553). This script elaborates an earlier script (conv_pdf_w_notes_to_pdfds_03.sh) which performed only the pdf->pdfd conversion. As a precaution, before running skimalot for pdf -> pdfd or pdfd -> pdf conversions, users might want to run the "clobberguard.sh" script (http://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D472554_2740135_64551) to identify pdf and pdfd files with identical basename (i.e. filename w/o the extension) in the same directory. This provides the opportunity to rename or move files that have different note sets so they won't be overwritten. Some suggested uses: 1. To prep for other OS's: skimalot unbundle and then skimalot embed. 2. To see notes in Skim's notes pane: skimalot unembed. 3. To store on Dropbox, skimalot bundle or skimalot embed. For usage, cautions, etc., please refer to the documentation in the scripts. One plausible elaboration not included in skimalot is use of skimnotes to "get", "set", or "remove". Finally, these are bash scripts tested only in OS X 10.6.8. And the Wiki now has a Shell Scripts section linked from the Interaction with Skim page. humanengr |
