Version 1.1.2

If I select a part of a PDF using Command-4 then drag out a selection, either in a bitmapped (scanned) document or a vector-based document, then paste into Text Edit or e.g. Pages, OmniGraffle, or Create, the object then seen is not what I had selected in Skim but a large object that is either white or transparent.

Performing the same action in Preview has the expected effect.

I tried copying a selection of a couple of PDFs and pasted into OmniGraffle Pro (4.x) and Create. Only the selected area appeared in the destination program. You might need to attach a PDF that demonstrates the problem.

I've spent about an hour making sure as best that I can that this isn't something messed up on my computer. I even tried a safe boot (shift key down). I've attached a file which illustrates the problem but I don't think there is anything special about the file, since I just made it up for this attachment and the problem shows up in any file that I have tried. I'm running 10.4.11 and Skim 1.1.2.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

This file gives me no problem. So it must be a 10.4 bug, probably in PDFKit.

I am having the same problem with all versions of Skim 1.1.* on OS X 10.4.11.

Version 1.0.3 (V21) of Skim works fine in this respect, so it is not just a problem with PDFKit (unless the older versions of Skim had a workaround, in which case, please use the same workaround now so that functionality is preserved;-)

Well, it *is* a bug in PDFKit. The problem occurs in 1.1.x because those versions have a workaround for bugs in Pages and Keynote when pasting PDF images. This workaround should be completely legitimate, but PDFKit on Tiger messes it up due to *its* bug. I've already reverted to the 1.0.3 and earlier behavior on Tiger, which means the Pages and Keynote problems can't be fixed.
