Original client and server have feature to make URLs in messages non clickable. Example: http://technobuff.wordpress.com/2008/02/21/make-urlhyperlink-clickable-in-microsoft-office-communicator-2007/
Good idea will be have an option to make they clickable in this client.

URL behaviour/rendering is handled by the libpurple client, e.g. Pidgin.

It seems Pidgin currently doesn't have an option to disable URL highlighting. You would need to raise this request to the Pidgin project. Or it might be possible that this can be achieved by a plugin.

There is more option. When OCS want to disable URL clickability, he add "_" symbol at begin URL and URL become non-clickable.
If plugin will filter this and remove "_", we can get clickable URL in pidgin.

I see two problems when "URL non-clickable" option is set:

    * user sees "_" in the message text (makes it difficult to copy & paste URLs from the UI)
    * protocol plugin modifies received text (IMHO not a good idea)

I'm still of the opinion that this is a UI problem and should be handled by the UI client (e.g. Pidgin) or plugins. Please remember that Sipe is a libpurple *protocol* plugin and not a normal libpurple plugin!

Any comments from the other developers?

I agree with Stefan, mostly that protocol plugin should not modify received text. Handling of such details how messages are presented to user is out of scope of this plugin, Pidgin is the right place for this request.
