Adding a contact in 1.17.3 and Adium 1.5.9b3 (custom compile to mitigate BEAST) fails. The contact name is added with sip appended to the name. It should have a : between the sip and contact address. sip:my.name@company.com

exact steps what you did in the UI (from your description I can't decipher what is supposed to be wrong)

as you use Adium, please fetch git HEAD, compile and confirm that the problem still exists there. There are so many improvements to SIPEAdiumPlugin queued for SIPE 1.18.x that we won't waste any time on fixing problems in 1.17.x.
