Progress on Mac Sinhala font to report. download from http://web.nickshanks.com/typography/ Fixed the rearrangement of vowels completely now, following discussions with a guy at Apple (I was reading the v1.0 docs, AAT v1.1 has glyph insertion, doh!) Known missing glyphs: nyja = ☹ nga.i = missing nga.ii = missing jnya.al = ☹ jnya.u = ☹ jnya.uu = ☹ VVL = ☹ VVLL = ☹ _Vll = ☹ ☹ means the glyph for the character is in the font but Pushpananda made a sad face instead of what the glyph should be. These might be better removed altogether so that fallback can happen properly. The font now mostly passes tests 1 and 2 by Anuradha Ratnaweera, http://www.sayura.net/anuradha/sinhala/unicode/test/ with the following exceptions (other than combinations which include one of the missing glyphs listed above): u+0D9E u+0DD2 (produces overlapping consonant & vowel paths) u+0D9E u+0DD3 (produces overlapping consonant & vowel paths u+0DA4 u+0DCF (extra _aa glyph) u+0DA4 u+0DD0 (extra _ae glyph, only one dangly bit - is this okay?) u+0DA4 u+0DD1 (extra _aee glyph, only one dangly bit) u+0DA5 u+0DCF (extra _aa glyph) u+0DA5 u+0DD0 (extra _ae glyph, only one dangly bit) u+0DA5 u+0DD1 (extra _aee glyph, only one dangly bit) u+0DA5 u+0DDC (extra _aa glyph) u+0DA5 u+0DDD (extra _aa glyph, _al glyph is on _aa not on consonant) u+0DAB u+0DD3 and variants look different from picture, could just be artistic difference I still can't get the zwj character to be recognised and consumed by the first rule in the MIF, so test three fails miserably. I have also *removed* the handling of ra and ya when not preceeded by a zwj, so these now display as full consonants rather than always forming the rakar and yansaya. Is this better or worse for the time being? Currently there are some ununsed glyphs from PC font: _i3 _ii3 repha repha2 rakar2 Does the PC font use these at all? — Nicholas Shanks. |
