I had need to use the SimMetric Levenshtein Distance Metric in Excel to determine the closest match in a group of cells to a another cell value, but .Net components cannot be used directly in Excel VBA because they are not COM components.
I created a .Net wrapper project around SimMetrics that exposed the Levenshtein (only) metric function. I also created an Excel Add-in that used the wrapper so it was available as an Excel UDF (User Defined Function).
All of this works fine, so my question really is whether it would be possible for you to create the COM interfaces in the SimMetrics .Net project, eliminating the need for my wrapper. This would allow any COM supporting program (Excel, Word, VBS, AutoIt etc.) to have access to the functions.
By the way, thanks for the excellent work!
I can add it to the list of things to do.
thanks for the thanks
