RAR5 support is a must!
When Bandizip adds the feature "Encrypt file names" I'll be pretty much done with 7-Zip. I've used it for a long time but it's getting behind.
'Easy 7-Zip' is a good one as well.
Or you could just use the latest WinRAR until 7-Zip is finished baking. ;-)
It's OK not to support RAR5 as Igor as stated it's not one of his priorities, but I hope Igor will soon release a "stable/beta" that will at least tell its users a particular RAR file is RAR5 and NOT supported rather than making the user think the RAR file is corrupted.
I also wish 7z can have some optimized defaults with 1GB, 2GB and 4GB dictionary sizes for its 64-bit version for users w/ 16GB or 32GB of RAM... Of course the archives won't be extractable for those with 32-bit CPU or even 64-bit without enough RAM.
I really want to see this happen because there are legacy apps and code written around 7z command line extraction I use. I would love to convert about 4tb of game iso's into rar5 for the dominating extract speed and compression ratios.
Ugh! That is a serious setback! I LOVE 7zip, because I not need to install it and it works well... But the cursed new WinRAR5 is used everywhere and there is no support for it in 7zip?
Come on, please...
we need rar5!
I plan to add support of RAR5 in 2 months.
Thank you Igor! And again compliments for your work
