First of all, thanks for 7-Zip!
When I tried to install the application, I got an error message that it needed permission on the StartMenu in C:/ProgramData/...
My account is with Administrator privileges (win7), but I had to go to the StartMenu folder and create the desired folder...
Alas, another failure, but with a different error message.
BTW, thanks for the clear error messages!
So, I then used a utility called "Take Ownership" and applied it to the folder, and this time 7-Zip installed.
I consider this a bug, not a feature request, because there is no need to put a link in the StartMenu for me. If you must put a link on my Desktop (which already has my permissions), I can follow up and add it to the StartMenu if I want to.
...
Oh how I miss the XP simplicity (though Win7 has its upside)
...
Thanks again for 7-zip!!!

This sounds like a windows 7 error more than a 7-zip error.
Have you had a problem similar to this before you changed the folder attributes?
