I'm really liking Semantic Mediawiki, but I've hit what's probably a newb issue. Simple summary: I have a category CAT that has 3 sub-categories Cat1, Cat2, and Cat3. I also have templates for Cat1, Cat2, and Cat3, and they're identical except that template Cat1 uses {{Cat 1 | Model= | ... }} template Cat2 uses {{Cat 2 | Model= | ... }} etc., The Forms are identical except that form Cat1 uses ... {{{for template|Cat1}}} ... |- ! Company: | {{{field|Model|values from category=Cat1}}} ... and similar for forms Cat2 and Cat3. It seems like there should be an easier way to do this with one template and one form doing something like {{{field|Model|values from category={{{cat_variable}}} }}} or perhaps there's just a better way of doing this. If anyone could offer me any insights, I can start getting more dangerous with smw. Thanks for reading. |

I don't quite understand the specific issue, but you can reuse common elements in different forms, via "form templates": http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Semantic_Forms#Reusing_form_elements -Yaron On Thu, Mar 4, 2010 at 6:57 PM, trueskew <tru...@gm...> wrote: > I'm really liking Semantic Mediawiki, but I've hit what's probably a newb > issue.
