The problems explained in my previous e-mail have been somewhat solved,
even though the solution was a workaround.
Now my database tables have utf8_general_ci collation and all contents
on the wiki look good (also with accented characters like àò ).
I had some problems with the known bug/limitation of mysql that exposes
the (quite common with MW) error
1071: Specified key was too long; max key length is 255 bytes
However, some minor changes to the tables structure enabled me to use
utf8 correctly and without problems. Then I have rebuilt the semantic
tables using SMWAdmin, and the semantic properties and types now are
BUT. If I try to build a simple query like
<ask>[[Excavated by::Stefano Costa]]</ask>
(I am an archaeologist), and save the page, I get this error:
L'ultima query inviata al database è stata:
ALTER TABLE prop1 ADD PRIMARY KEY ( title )
richiamata dalla funzione "". MySQL ha restituito il seguente
"1071: Specified key was too long; max key length is 255 bytes
I have some hope that also in this case a minor change in the database
structure (key length or field length) can solve the problem. But I have
not so much experience with MySQL and SMW internals. I have some idea
that changes should go into the file includes/storage/SMW_SQLStore.php.
Can someone point me to the right lines to look and possibly edit there?
