I thought, SMW_refresh.php does this and is the only way. Not sure about the reasons: It might be a bug in the OpenVirtuoso-handling of SMW. Also, maybe my Apache-PHP is not properly configured, e.g., I read in [1] that MW uses certain URIs depending on the CGI-PHP settings (if I knew how to change those...).
