Hi, 1) isn't currently possible, and it seems to me it might cause havoc to make a category page into a redirect - I'd say a helpful link is the reasonable approach. 2) is apparently a bug in SD, although thankfully there's a workaround. 3) and 4) are not currently doable, so they count as feature requests. They're both good ideas, and in fact they've been requested before, but I have no plans to implement them at the moment.
