I'm interested in setting up Semantic MediaWiki on an Intranet
behind a proxy server which uses basic authentication.

The initial prototype would be set up on a Windows XP machine with local instances of Apache and Mysql.

My question really is how best to set up Semantic MediaWiki under the local instance of Apache such that the 'proxy_host', 'proxy_port', 'proxy_user' and
'proxy_pass'  settings can be applied to allow
HTTP requests from within Semantic MediaWiki to successfully access URIs outside the organization ?

The context is that I am planning to use
Semantic MediaWiki  to prototype a Semantic Wiki and Linked Data application for managing software configurations.
A lot of the information is internal and private but at the same time we want to link to concepts and data defined outside the organization.
