I'm guessing that somewhere in your LocalSettings.php file, you have the line:

$wgLanguageCode = "";

If so, you should change that to:

$wgLanguageCode = "en";

...or whatever language you want the wiki to be in.

My name is Steve and I live in a suburb of Philadelphia. I am helping my wife configure a Mediawiki installation to use the forms that are available with Semantic Mediawiki for the Jefferson University wiki site. I joined the user list for Semantic Mediawiki because I just installed the latest version 1.4.1 and ran into a fatal error when I tried to load the Wiki after the install. I'll try to give all the information about my installation below:

Installed software

5.2.5 (cgi)

When I add the configuration lines to the LocalSettings.php file for Semantic Mediawiki I get the following fatal error:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate abstract class SMWLanguage in /home/jeffers4/public_html/wiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki/includes/SMW_GlobalFunctions.php on line 422

I have no idea what could be causing this error as I am not a PHP programmer; however, I can follow instructions and installed per the instructions. When I tried to bring up the site with the correct installation lines added to the LocalSettings.php file, it gave the above fatal error. I have no telnet access to run the SMW_setup.php file and few means to debug the installation. Any suggestions as to how I might begin troubleshooting this would be appreciated. Any help at all would be a good start.

Thanks in advance,
