#66 BASE Feature request - Version number

Here's an easy one:

It'd be great to have the option to have BASE report the version number of Snort and when the rules were last updated. Might want to provide an option to disable version reporting for those few sites that might run BASE w/o password protection on a public IP, for security reasons. For everyone else, however, this could be a very useful feature.

People with multiple environments/multiple BASE/snort installs that we monitor regularly would benefit considerably from this. If they're happy with BASE's reporting, we would only have to ever hit the shell to perform actual updates.

I am not sure how we would automatically do this within BASE since BASE usually runs on a system different then the sensor. The only thing I can think would work is the $BASE_installlID in base_conf.php. You could set this with the values you are looking for.
