if you are working in a DOS window, the DJ Delorie utility called
"redir" will redirect stdout and stderr to files of your choice.
I used the command: "redir -e redir.txt redir" to capture the stderr of
the utility itself to a text file, as follows...

-eo redirect standard error to standard output
-oe redirect standard output to standard error
-x print exit code
-t print elapsed time
command the program you want to run, with arguments
Options are processed in the order they are encountered.
