Flex is needed .. SDCC.lex ... Michael Hope is working on a
hand written lexer..but Iam not sure he has replaced the old
one yet...

I don't think flex is needed, as I remember sdcc uses a handwritten
lexer not (f)lex generated one.

Did you re-fetch *.y file(s)? You wrote you removed SDCC.y. I suggest
you to untar the source tree again so every files will be there.

I think you did re-run configure without cleaning the source tree. If
you change your system's configuration (installing new tool used by
sdcc or so) you should clean up the source tree so configure will not
use cache files to pick up information but it will be forced to
re-check all things again. You can achieve this with "make distclean"
command.
