I hope I haven't been too ignorant and non-productive. We may be interested in this whole issue for using sdcc with our development boards such as uCAN2 which uses the C390 with 24-bit flat memory mode capability. Our customers have to be able to use the code tools in commercial products. This is not always possible with the GPL, for example, so we need to be a bit careful about licensing restrictions. We are working on a new Dallas development board - for a chip to be announced this Sep - I can't say more as we are under nondisclosure. I can say it should generate a lot of interest in the 8051 community when announced at the embedded systems conference in San Jose this fall. We would like to be able to bundle something more than just our assembler - a compiler, RTOS or kernel of some kind, and debugger. SDCC might be an option. However we don't have a lot of time to be working with sdcc and figuring out all this stuff. I could propose some sort of collaboration where we provide a small number of free boards to people who could sign an NDA with us to keep things secret until Sep (might need to sign an NDA with Dallas, too, I don't know), to help develop some open source tools for this new controller. The controller has a simple boot loader in ROM already, so that is fixed in place. Interested parties can contact me off-line if that is more appropriate than using this list. - Bruce --------------------------------------------------------- Pretty nice socket boards & accessories for TINI Java /\/\/\/ Systronix /\/\/\/ Complete Systems for Rapid Embedded Control Development tel:801.534.1017 fax:-1019 http://www.systronix.com --------------------------------------------------------- |
