sdcc 2.8 & 2.7: path problem on Windows 98SE

  • Dear Friends,

I downloaded SDCC (version 2.8.0) from
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=599&package_id=28921
and installed it to C:\ on Windows 98 (I did this in Windows XP too,  and
do not have any problems there --- all is well). The path is set to
C:\SDCC\BIN. This is done by the installer itself, and it is the correct
path. I checked that the path is present in autoexec.bat. I also restarted
the machine for the path to become effective.

    When I type

    sdcc

at DOS prompt, DOS gives me the message

    Bad command or file name.

    When I type

    C:\sdcc\bin\sdcc

    sdcc runs fine.

I have the same experience with sdcc 2.7.

This is the first time I am experiencing something like this
with installing a program on my Win 98SE machine in my 6 years
    of using this machine.

I will appreciate it if you can show me how to fix this problem.

    Thank you very much.

    With best wishes,

    Ram.

      Hi Ram,

can you tell us the full content of PATH environment variable:
      - in DOS window execute:
        path
You can also send the content of the autoexec.bat file after the sdcc installation.
