When I run
sdcc -c cable.c, I get a preproc file not found error.
I can run this file on another machine, but not this
laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no
success.

When I run sdcc -v I get to see the compiler version as well
as a hint of the platform I'm running on.

PLEASE give some more info so we can investigate and try
to reproduce this problem. Otherwise we have to close this
    one as unreproducable.

And what is windows.h ? Are you trying to compile a MS
    Windows program for an 8051?

The file cable.c was apparently written to be:

    a) Compiled using VC, or maybe other MS Windows compiler.

    b) Run under Windows, maybe 95/98/ME only. Direct
access to the I/O ports is restricted on NT/2K/XP (see next
    point)

    c) To access the parallel port of a standard PC.

    d) To use file "vmopcode.h", which is not included with the
    original message.

In conclusion this file is not generic C code. It is compiler,
machine, and OS dependent. So don't expect sdcc to
compile it for use in a 8051 microcontroller.

Marteen, do you want to close this one?

    Jesus,

I had set the status to "Pending" so it will auto-close if no
update is made within two weeks by the submitter.
