#937 Show calltip when mouse dwells above an API word

Calltip is currently displayed when typing the opening parenthesis behind the function name. When the source code is finished Ctrl+Space between the parentheses brings up the tooltip for the function too. MSVS shows the tooltip on one more occasion - when the mouse cursor is hovering above the function name. If can useful when reading some code in order to understand it and to inspect the functions or properties just sweep the mouse above them.

I hooked to SCN_DWELLSTART and SCN_DWELLEND to show and hide the calltip. What do you think?

  • Patch that shows calltips when dwelling with mouse above API words. Diff against 3.1.0 and the modified files too.

While some people may like this, others won't so there should be a property to turn it on. Either the setting should force dwell events on or the documentation should make it clear that dwell.period needs to be set.

The calltips appear at the top of the document instead of near the call. When the document is scrolled, the calltips appear at the top of the screen, outside the SciTE window.

Another recent changeset (3812) was around this area which makes it more difficult to apply the patch so it would be an idea to update to the current state from Hg.

I patched the source code and compiled, but its doesnt work.
How can i do to work it?
Its an amazing feature, because if i want to see the function parameters i must rewrite always.

    I hope somebody help.
