I wanted to use SciTE (version 3.0.2 from repository) on my Kubuntu 13.04 machine, but SciTE shows no GUI after loading, even though the program is running without any error message.
I made a strace log.
There are many mentions of /home/*** so I'll assume you have anonymised the user ID as having a user ID of "***" is likely to cause difficulties.
There are two subprocesses cloned off SciTE. The first (4964) appears to be setting up KDE libraries producing the file "/home/***/.kde/share/config/:/et" which is then read by the main process (4963). 4963 then clones 4965 which doesn't appear to do much. Looks to me like 4963 is waiting for some information from 4965 where 4965 is doing something related to KDE.
Its unlikely I can do any further investigation - GTK+ through KDE isn't a platform I use or want to work on.
