#230 build issues on 64bit

There are some build issues on 64bit platforms for 1.4.13. I know you committed r370 to address that but it seems more like a workaround than a proper fix. The root cause is some poorly written autoconf/automake tests, it seems and we should address that.

    The test codes are generated by autoconf/automake automatically, not in the configure.ac, so we can do nothing. Currently the generated test codes cannot pass the 64-bit g++, but it works for 64-bit gcc. So I changed the AC_LANG to C instead of C++ to avoid the problem.

    PS. The generated test codes fail on 64-bit g++-4.6. Older version of g++ (4.4, for example) seem to not have this problem.
